Setting foot into the newly relocated Perrotin for the first time. This new space at K11 ATELIER Victoria Dockside is slightly smaller than its old location at Central, however the harbour view totally made up to that. The Kaleidoscope exhibition features various well-known artists around the world, from Takashi Murakami, MADSKI, Barry McGee, Izumi Kato to Chen Fei. This group exhibition showcased 10 artists work  from a range of cultures and practices to explore different manners of representation and self-expression, and the methods from which they are derived. Alternating between dualities of figuration/abstraction and introspection/ perception, the exhibited works examine the formation of identity and humanistic ideals as they become subject to scrutiny and change. My absolute favourite would be Chen Fei's work, incorporation of this own image probes into traditions of self portraiture in the contexts of Western and Eastern art history. His work is very lively with exquisite detail, its cinematic quality blurs the lines between reality and the surreal.
